Chronic tendinitis xxxxxx
Goals: To relieve pain once the inflammatory signs have abated.
Benefits of electrostimulation Electrostimulation improves the blood flow, thus stimulating the healing of microscopic injuries in the tendon fibres. This assists and eases the gradual resumption of activity in the best possible conditions.
Explanation and protocol:
The normal development of a tendonopathy passes most frequently (but not invariably) through a first acute phase, then through a chronic phase during which the obvious signs of inflammation (heat, redness) have disappeared. The pain is no longer present and no longer prevents movements in everyday life such as coming down stairs. However, persistent trouble or a slight reawakening of the pain may occur when returning, even if extremely gradually, to training. It should be noted that sport should always be resumed with a green light from a doctor and extremely gradually (slow jogging of short duration on soft ground initially). The appearance of trouble or reawakening of the pain should in theory always mean stoppage of a training session. During this chronic phase, the tendon is in a convalescence phase and there may be microscopic injuries to the tendon fibres which are then in the process of scarring. The Chronic tendinitis programme can engender greatly increased blood circulation in the calf muscle (triceps sural) and Achilles tendon unit, which is very beneficial in promoting restoration of cellular exchanges and the scarring process.
The Chronic tendinitis programme must never be undertaken too early, in other words during the acute phase, because there is then a potential risk of aggravating the inflammatory signs.
Area of application:
Cycle duration
During the entire chronic phase until complete disappearance of the painful symptoms
You are advised to consult your doctor if no improvement is observed after the first week of use.
Cycle sequence
At least 1 session every day
If possible, 2 sessions per day, separated by at least 10 minutes rest between the 2 sessions
Position of the body: Adopt a comfortable position
Energy setting:
Gradually increase the stimulation energy until you get very pronounced muscular twitches (sort of large muscle vibrations).
The miRANGE function is a useful aid to ensure you are working in an effective area.
