Training

Fartlek xxxxxx

Goals: To train and prepare the muscles for all types of muscle work.

Benefits of electrostimulation This programme trains and prepares the muscles for all kinds of muscular work (endurance, resistance, strength, explosive strength) through different working sequences.
It is designed for people who do not have any preference for a single kind of performance and who prefer to use a variety of workout methods to exercise their muscles.
It is also designed to “re-set” the muscles after a rest period and before more intensive and specific training

Explanation and protocol: The ability to sustain a long term effort depends principally on an individual's endurance abilities, in other words his body's ability to consume large quantities of oxygen. The basis of purposeful training consists in multiplying the appropriate sessions to achieve development of this component of physical condition. However, improving other physical qualities, such as speed, which involves different conditions for supplying energy (anaerobic system = not relying on oxygen for fuel), will certainly appeal to the endurance runner, who must sometimes face up to harsh terrain or even changes to the running rhythm. It is to meet these needs that Fartlek, a form of training developed initially by the Swedes, is today adopted by numerous runners. This training consists in varying running speeds (Fartlek means literally: "speed play") according to the athlete's sensations. The Fartlek programme consists in applying varied workouts to the stimulated muscles and thus reproducing the different muscular stresses of a training session of this type.

Area of application:

Cycle duration 8 to 12 weeks

Cycle sequence 2 to 3 sessions per week.

Weeks 1 to 4: Fartlek, level 1
Weeks 5 to 8: Fartlek, level 2
Weeks 9 to 12: Fartlek, level 3 (if preparation over 12 weeks)

Placement of electrodes:

Position of the body: Seated, knees flexed, fix or lock the ankles to avoid extension of the knees

Energy setting: Maximum tolerable
