Reduce muscle soreness xxxxxx

Goals: To reduce the duration and intensity of muscular aches and pains in the quadriceps.

Benefits of electrostimulation Electrostimulation both activates blood flow, and speeds up the production of endorphins, thus reducing tension in the muscle fibres. This programme helps to ease muscular aches and pains. This programme is effective even if aches and pains have already set in.

Explanation and protocol: Muscular soreness is a painful phenomenon affecting an entire muscle or a muscle group. It appears the day after an unusually long and/or intensive effort and is fairly common for a runner after he has given his all in a competition. It generally affects those muscles most stressed by the run: thighs (muscle group at the front of the thigh) and triceps sural (principal muscle group for the calf). Not a really serious condition, the soreness disappears in a few days, but impairs everyday movement such as walking or coming down stairs, for example. It represents microscopic injuries to the muscle tissue which will set the repair process in motion. The Reduce muscle soreness programme relieves the pain caused by muscle soreness by stimulating endorphin production (a natural substance with analgesic properties), by reducing tension in the muscle fibres and by inducing greatly increased local blood circulation favourable to recovery.

Area of application:

Cycle duration 3 to 5 days

Cycle sequence Starting from the day after the run: 2 sessions per day every day

Placement of electrodes:

Position of the body: Seated or lying in a comfortable position, if possible with the legs raised

Energy setting: Gradually increase the stimulation energy until you get very pronounced muscular twitches (sort of large muscle vibrations).
The miRANGE function is a useful aid to ensure you are working in an effective area
